A Guide to Upgrading a Regular Floor Mat to a Moisture-proof Floor Mat

In home life, floor mats are common items that bring convenience and comfort to daily life, but can also cause some problems in humid environments. Ordinary floor mats have insufficient moisture resistance and are prone to bacterial growth, mold growth, and odor generation in humid environments. One solution is to upgrade ordinary floor mats to moisture-proof ones using diatomite absorbing non-woven fabric.

Required materials

1. Diatomite absorbing non-woven fabric: Its main material is a natural diatomite composite, with a porous structure and strong adsorption capacity. By integrating other high moisture absorbing materials, not only does it have strong moisture absorption ability, but it also has the ability to lock in moisture and retain moisture, with a high moisture content of up to 400% of its mass. At the same time, moisture absorbing non-woven fabric has the ability to regulate and remove moisture, which can automatically absorb or release moisture according to the environmental humidity, avoiding excessive moisture or dryness and achieving humidity balance. When the relative humidity of the environment is below 40% RH, it will continuously release moisture and eliminate moisture, naturally regenerating. Its porous structure can also effectively adsorb odors and prevent odor generation. In addition, moisture-absorbing non-woven fabric does not require special maintenance. When it is too humid, it should be placed in a cool, dry, and ventilated place and allowed to air dry naturally before use.

2. Cutting tool: used to cut diatomite absorbent non-woven fabric to make it the same size as the floor mat.

3. Adhesive or double-sided tape: If you want the non-woven fabric to adhere more tightly to the floor mat, you can prepare adhesive or double-sided tape for fixing.

Transformation steps

1. Measure the size of the floor mat: Use a tape measure to accurately measure the length and width of the floor mat and record the data.

Ensure that the diatomite absorbing non-woven fabric is cut to the appropriate size to cover the bottom of the floor mat fully.

2. Cutting diatomite absorbing non-woven fabric: Cut the absorbent non-woven fabric based on the measured size of the floor mat. When cutting, it is important to note that the size of the non-woven fabric is slightly larger than the floor mat and to reserve a certain edge for wrapping the edge of the floor mat for subsequent edge wrapping operations.

3. Fixed moisture-absorbing non-woven fabric: Place the cut diatomite moisture-absorbing non-woven fabric at the bottom of the floor mat, aligning the centers of the two. If you want them to be firmly fixed, you can evenly apply glue on the edges of non-woven fabric or floor mats, or intermittently apply double-sided tape, and then tightly adhere the non-woven fabric to the floor mats. If you don't pursue a tight fitting effect, you can also directly lay the moisture absorbing non-woven fabric under the floor mat for use.

4. Edge treatment: In order to make the floor mat more beautiful and durable, the edges can be treated. For example, stitching the edges of the floor mat and moisture absorbing non-woven fabric together, or bonding them together with glue. It can prevent the displacement of non-woven fabric and also have a certain decorative effect.

By adding a layer of diatomite absorbing non-woven fabric at the bottom of this ordinary floor mat, the floor mat has a moisture-proof function.

Diatomite absorbing non-woven fabric continuously absorbs water vapor, keeping the surface layer of the floor mat dry and effectively preventing problems such as mold and odor caused by moisture. It not only extends the service life of the floor mat but also creates a healthier and more comfortable atmosphere for the home environment.
